Two Nights of Halloween at Voler This October

October is our favorite month for a reason. Not just because the air finally cools off in Kansas City, but because it’s when this whole place leans all the way into costumes, candy, and a little bit of theater. This year we’ve got two nights of it, and both are open to the public.

The Haunted Open House

Friday, October 23rd, 6 to 9 PM, at 556 Lowell Ave in KCK.

This one’s for the whole family. Bring your kids in costume, wander the studio at your own pace, and catch performances from our youth aerialists throughout the evening. There’s candy and refreshments, a raffle to enter, and no schedule to plan around. Arrive whenever works for you, if you dare.

If you’ve never seen the building, this is a good excuse to come find out what a converted 1917 church looks like decked out for Halloween. Bats in the rafters, jack-o’-lanterns by the door, and kids doing things five feet off the ground that most adults wouldn’t try on solid ground.

You don’t need to be a current student to come. Friends, neighbors, curious parents who’ve been wondering what actually happens inside this building all year, all welcome.

The Grown-Up Party

Friday, October 30th, 7 to 10 PM, at 556 Lowell Ave in KCK.

The night before Halloween, we do the same thing for adults. Costumes are still very much encouraged, but this time there’s a bar and the performances are sprinkled through the night instead of scheduled around anyone’s bedtime.

Our adult students and their people are invited, and so is anyone else who’s ready for a Halloween party that isn’t just a bar crawl in a costume you regret by 10 PM. Expect the same aerial talent from the open house with a later curfew and better drinks.

Why we do two

Kids and adults want pretty different things out of a Halloween party, so instead of picking one, we just throw both. The open house is the version where nobody’s watching the clock and everyone leaves with candy. The adult party is the version where the lights come down a little and the tricks get a little more daring.

Voler was founded in 2007 as Kansas City’s first aerial studio, and this building has hosted a lot of nights like these since. If you’ve been meaning to see what we do here, October is as good a reason as any.

Come see us

Neither night requires you to already know anything about aerial arts. Just show up, wear a costume if you’ve got one, and let the performers do the impressive part.
